It was just 10 years ago that the prospect of an Australian ID card was scuttled as a result of concerns for personal privacy.

Since then a younger generation has embraced social media, disclosing to “virtual” friends far more than a previous generation would have been comfortable sharing with their closest circle.

Technology continues to evolve and an easy integration of seemingly unrelated devices is now capable of connecting the dots in your life and making them available to a complete stranger in the blink of an eye.

It’s the new age of retailing.

Business consultant and Chartered Accountant Mike Reddy will talk about how technology can now be used under the pretext of improving customer service that has total strangers watching and knowing more about you as an individual than you realise.

A Chartered Accountant and author, Mike has invested the last 10 years in helping small business reach their potential.

Mike’s career highlights included helping contribute to the extraordinary business reversal of Fonterra which reinvented itself to become one of the biggest and most successful dairy companies in the world.

In 2007 Mike joined forces with RAN ONE to develop and deliver programmes to accounting and consulting members to help them implement new ways to leverage technology and took over the reigns as the CEO for the Asia-Pacific region in 2008.

He has been regularly utilised by the Australian media to comment on small business affairs.

His elected roles in the community include sitting on the NSW infrastructure advisory committee as a Councillor for the NSW Business Chamber, President of the North Sydney Chamber of Commerce and as a representative on the Local Leadership Team of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Sydney branch.
